| The DocuPrint C1100, an A4-capable color laser printer that is marketed by Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. won the Energy Conservation Center Chairman's Prize (energy-saving machines and systems category) in the 18th Energy Conservation Awards held by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry for 2007. This is the 9th consecutive year that a Fuji Xerox product has won this prize, an industry first. Past machines that received this award include color and monochrome multifunctional devices, copy machines, and low-speed and high-speed printers. As these machines realize reductions in the amount of energy consumption during use by our customers, which is what we are working towards, these awards can be considered as one of the fruits of our efforts in developing energy-saving products with a broad lineup. |

The DocuPrint C1100 adopts a proprietary ultra-small free belt nip fuser (Figure 1) that features the evolved free belt nip fuser technology of Fuji Xerox. This enhances thermal efficiency and facilitates expeditious start-up, evident in a warm-up time of less than 25 seconds after power on, and less than 20 seconds from sleep mode. |

| * Measured using the Typical Electricity Consumption (TEC) method adopted by the Energy Star standards revised in April 2007 (a method of measuring electrical power consumption under actual conditions of usage) to determine power consumption per week. The standard value for a color printer capable of printing 35 ppm is 9 kWh/week. |

Fuji Xerox has newly developed a printer controller device having the CPU and the peripheral I/O controller on a single chip (SoC) to suppress power consumption of the drive circuit of its engine, which has reduced power consumption to less than five watts in sleep mode. It also achieves 1.2 kilowatt-hour in Typical Electricity Consumption (TEC), which is a standard adopted by the ECCJ in the International ENERGY STAR Program to measure ordinary power consumption in a week.
Through these energy-saving designs, The DocuPrint C1100’s CO2 emissions in the office have been reduced by around 50 percent, as compared with the DocuPrint C525 A.

The size of the DocuPrint C1100 is roughly 11 percent smaller than the DocuPrint C525 A due to a new tandem engine (Figure 2) that enables toner transfer directly to paper as well as a compact toner cartridge. Further, although a large portion of the frame is traditionally composed of metal, Fuji Xerox has used a light, strengthened plastic to reduce overall weight to 17 kilograms, down around 40 percent, resulting in its compactness comparable to monochrome devices. |

The DocuPrint C1100 complies with the International Energy Star Program and the Law on Promoting Green Purchasing (a law that encourages procurement of environmentally-friendly goods by the national government and other bodies), which promote the development and introduction of energy-efficient office equipment. The DocuPrint C1100 has also received Eco Mark certification from the Japan Environment Association.
[Energy Conservation Prize]
The purpose of the grand prix offered by the Energy Conservation Center is to seek out, identify, and commend consumer energy apparatus, material, and appliances that excel in terms of energy- and resource-saving features, to support the development and promotion thereof, and ultimately, to support efforts to reduce the emission of gases responsible for global warming, such as carbon dioxide, in order to make an energy-saving society a reality. Subject apparatus and systems are selected from among appliances, materials, and system products (consuming energy) already commercially on sale or commercialized following sufficient research and development, purchasable by consumers or entrepreneurs, and demonstrating exceptional energy-saving features. Also taken into account are features such as the degree of innovation, product quality, environmental improvement features and safety-consciousness. |
