At Fuji Xerox we disclose the results of assessments for the integrated recycling system in the form of a "Integrated-Recycling Product Label," which is a Type II environmental label that self-declares environmental consciousness based on our own unique standards, and in the form of "Product Eco-Data," which quantitatively indicates information on environmental impacts that are incurred through parts reuse.
Fuji Xerox's products are assessed based on unique and strict standards during the integrated recycling processes for "collection," "reuse and recycling of parts," "production process," and "recycling design" in the closed-loop system.
Compliant copy machines and digital multifunctional devices are certified as "integrated-recycling products," and assessment results are disclosed in the form of a "Integrated-Recycling Product Label."
In order to make the environmental performance for the overall life cycle, from manufacturing to usage and disposal, for each product easy to understand, "Product Eco-Data" is publicized by dividing the data into the stages of "manufacturing," "usage," and "post-usage."
Specifically, the materials resources, amount of energy consumed, amount of CO2 emissions, and amount of substances that poses risks of environmental impact, have been rigorously examined for each stage, using methods such as LCA.
Upon such examinations, we have learned that environmental impacts are particularly large in the manufacturing stage for materials and parts as compared to other stages, and that environmental impacts could be reduced through machines with reused parts.
These examinations are conducted in a joint research with Mitsubishi Research Institute, Inc.
