Reuse of Parts

In the past, used products that were collected were processed as waste, and materials recycling of a type where mainly metals were recycled back into materials was carried out.
To recycle everything back into materials, even if they could be reused, there were a lot of losses and environmental impact, such as using additional energy and landfilling parts that could be reused as resources.
Starting in December 1995, used products that are collected have been handled with the top priority of reusing the parts in a production process where a stable demand is expected, in addition to being efficient from the perspective of environmental impact.
By reusing parts, the amount of energy (CO2) that is produced from when the parts are procured until the manufacturing stage is controlled. Fuji Xerox guarantees a "quality equivalent to new products" for each of the reused parts based on strict standards, stemming from the concept of providing a quality level that is the same as that for newly manufactured products, even for copy machines that incorporate used parts.
An equivalent quality means that (1) the quality of the external appearance, (2) performance and functions, (3) reliability, and (4) the life of the machine is equivalent to those of new products.
In order to make the used parts be guaranteed that their quality level is the same as that of new products, various technological developments are conducted to enable parts reuse.

Specific Examples for Enabling Parts Reuse

Cleaning Technology

Parts that can be recycled are cleaned using the latest technology, without scratching the metal or plastic portions.

There are some parts for which it is difficult to determine whether they can be reused with conventional measurement methods.
Such parts can be judged as to whether or not they can be reused, by using ultrasound technology, etc.
