AYO with Approximately 100 Young Musicians from Asian Countries

Fuji Xerox has been supporting the Asian Youth Orchestra (AYO), which was formed to provide opportunities for young musicians from all over Asia to enhance potentials and gain valuable world experiences, ever since its first concert tour in 1990.

The AYO was organized in 1989 under the guidance of the late Yehudi Menuhin, who was a world-class violinist and conductor. The young musicians, who are selected through highly competitive auditions from various countries and regions in Asia, go on a concert tour every summer, enabling them to deepen their mutual understanding that surpasses borders, ethnicities, and languages, through their music.

The members of the Asian Youth Orchestra, of which there are approximately 100, come from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Each year, the orchestra is comprised of young musicians between the ages of 15 and 25 with remarkable talent. After passing competitive auditions that are held locally, the musicians participate in activities for 6 weeks each year, consisting of a 3-week rehearsal camp, and a 3-week tour featuring world-renowned conductors and soloists.
