Social Contribution Relating With Our Core Business/Environment / Fuji Xerox Wood-Block Print Collection

Collecting Wood-block Prints from Around the World, and Sharing Them with the Public

Fuji Xerox collects and exhibits wood-block prints, a form of printed art that is connected deeply to our business focus of "copying and documents". Since 1988, we have systematically collected post-20th century wood-block prints, and have amassed a collection that is considered to be one of the best in Japan, consisting of 800 pieces by over 190 artists.

In addition to loaning pieces to exhibits held in various locations, we built a gallery at our headquarters in 2003 and have since been displaying our collection to the general public. With the purpose of promoting an understanding in arts, we plan on placing emphasis on education and popularization of art both within and outside our company, by creating joint projects with "Art By Xerox" (ABX), putting efforts into exhibition activities at our gallery, loaning works to art museums, conducting research on our collection, and hosting art workshops for our employees.

Performance and Future Perspectives

Fuji Xerox hosted the Richard Serra Exhibition (February 27 to May 19, 2006), the Jean (Hans) Arp Exhibition (June 12 to August 25, 2006), and an exhibition of works that were newly added to our collection (September 19 to November 2, 2006).

Upon receiving a request from the Keio University Art Center, which was commissioned by Tokyo's Minato Ward to plan and manage a training seminar for art management in order to encourage cultural arts activities, we loaned some of our wood-block prints. These works of art were used in an exhibition entitled "Excerpts and Creations from the Fuji Xerox Wood-Block Print Collection-Warhol, Hockney, and Oldenburg" (February 4 to February 10, 2007).

In accordance with the relocation of our headquarters to Roppongi, we reopened our gallery in conjunction with the grand opening of the commercial zone of the Tokyo Midtown complex on March 30, 2007. (For details, click on the link below.)
