In December 2001, a group of Fuji Xerox employees and retirees formed "e-Nakama". e-Nakama" is an organization that supports people with disabilities to acquire the means and become self-reliant in communication, by providing opportunities for volunteers to interact with such people through "IT support," while donating used machines, such as computers and printers that are no longer used in our offices to welfare facilities.
The activities of "e-Nakama" not only contribute to society from the aspect of welfare, but also contribute to reducing environmental impact, such as waste, through effective use (reuse and long-term use) of idle machines. Thus, Fuji Xerox supports it by bearing some of the operation costs. Starting in 2007, since there will be an increase in the number of retirees from the baby-boomer generation, we expect for an increase in the number of participants and for an expansion of activities.
