Communication With Local Communities

The Principle of Communication With Local Communities

It is impossible to continue business activities without the trust from local communities. Fuji Xerox promotes various activities to build good relationships with local communities.
In Ebina, Iwatsuki, and Takematsu Centers, where our development sites are located, facilities such as ground and gymnasium are opened to the public. Meanwhile, we enjoy very good time with the local citizens during summer festivals.
At summer festivals, we also interact with the local communities by hosting stands by welfare facilities and selling the goods made by the disabled. Throughout the country, Fuji Xerox employees clean the roads regularly together with the local residents and employees from other companies. One example is in Roppongi area, where our headquarters and sales strongholds are located.
Also in each affiliated company, we promote interactions with the local governments, organizations and residents.

Special Olympics

Special Olympics is a global sports festival for people with intellectual disabities to participate. Fuji Xerox has continuously supported the Special Olympics since 1995.

In FY2007, the charity golf competition was held by Fuji Xerox OB / OG aimed for Special Olympics support in May 2007. 124 people participated and donated 1,034,609 yen as support for Special Olympics world games in 2009. Fuji Xerox also participated the activities of “4th Special Olympics Nippon National Winter Games in Yamagata” held in March 2008.

Alongside this, Fuji Xerox headquarters and affiliated companies in various regions supported the activities of the Special Olympics through donations and support for respective regions, supplying practice grounds and conference rooms, creating flyers and providing copy services. Many of our employees also support the Special Olympics by voluntarily serving as coaches and judges for competitions and as staff members for managing these competitions. As a common program that is held throughout Japan, we would like to promote greater participation among our employees as volunteers.

In-House Sales of Cookies and Cakes (Baked at Welfare Facility)

At Fuji Xerox headquarters and Sales Group office in Roppongi T-Cube, confectionary products including cakes and cookies made by people with intellectual disabilities at the Sweet Shop Okashiya Palette, a welfare work center, are sold once every month. Through this activity, employees have an opportunity to support the working of people with disabilities and communicate with them.
By promoting the communication, the activity is spreading for sales promotion, such as our sales representations can use these sweets as souvenirs at fairs that are held in many regions, distribute leaflets on St.Valentine's Day, and help to sell the sweets.

In Fuji Xerox Fukuoka as well, sweets made at welfare facilities are sold on a periodic basis. This effort is continuing to spread as community-based social contribution activities in which employees are able to freely participate.

Green Road SIX

We participated in Green Road SIX, a joint beautification initiative for Roppongi involving three companies. Volunteers from three companies with offices in Roppongi (Samsung Japan, IBM Japan and Fuji Xerox) engaged in cleaning up Roppongi, with the name “SIX” derived from the companies' initials. The first letter of the place name Roppongi as it is written in Chinese characters also means “six.” The first cleaning effort was done on November 2005.In FY2007, on Saturday mornings in April, July, October and March, clean-up efforts were implemented. On every occasion, 150 to 200 people, including members from the local resident's association and merchant's association, usually participate.

This is not only the community-based activity, but also the activity promoting by the cooperation with other companies, make more employees to participate the activities voluntarily for several times by communicating with the employees of Samsung Japan and IBG Japan. We want to develop Roppongi with the local companies and stores in the future in Tokyo midtown where our headquarters is located.
