In 2001, as a step toward realizing our “Ecology & Safety Vision”, Fuji Xerox adopted eco-efficiency as an indicator of environmental management. We set the companywide environmental goal of “Doubling efficiency compared to FY2000 by FY2010” and have been striving to achieve this goal.
Fuji Xerox views “Prevention of global warming”, “Conservation of natural resources” and “Reduction of chemical risks” as its three pillars. We have set companywide “Environmental management control points” and will strive to reduce environmental impact.
To correspond with changes flexibly, we review the midterm plans every year, and formulate annual plans according to the midterm plans.

From the Midterm environmental plans of FY2008, Fuji Xerox begins to focus on “Prevention of global warming” of the three pillars. At the same time, our environmental management indicator has been changed to carbon balance indicator to manage CO2 absolute emissions.
Up to now, eco-efficiency (RevenueĆ·CO2 emissions) was the indicator of global warming prevention; however, with the implementation of the Kyoto Protocol, it has been changed to the absolute emissions from the efficiency because the reduction of CO2 absolute emissions is the common subject of the whole world.
Carbon Balance Indicator means the balance between the CO2 emissions of Fuji Xerox and CO2 check emissions at customers' sites during their using of Fuji Xerox's products.
In FY2007, CO2 check emissions at customers' sites was around 1.2 times (FY2000 standard) of Fuji Xerox's CO2 emissions. As our goal in FY2012 is double, we have to work on providing energy-saving products to customers as well as control our own CO2 emissions.
