In this section, we will introduce our initiatives of preventing environment pollution risks including “initiatives to reduce chemical risks though our business activities” and “initiatives to reduce chemical risks though our products”.

Fuji Xerox has responded to the trends in the regulation of hazardous chemical substances in Japan and overseas, and we have also voluntarily developed measures to control and reduce the environmental pollution risks from our business activities and are working to implement these measures. Some chemical substances discharged from our sites, such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), can pollute the atmosphere, while others, such as PCBs, can contaminate soil and water. Our ultimate goal is to reduce these kind of environmental risks to as close to zero as possible.

Our basic principle is implementing response to legal requirements before practice, setting voluntary standard that stricter than legal requirements and striving as the pioneer of the industry. In FY2007, we established Green Procurement Management System to comply with various regulations and ensure the safety of chemical substances in products. We also achieved allover plumgum-free in shaft category of new products.
