Procurement Ethics

Guidelines on Procurement

Fuji Xerox is conducting procurement activities in accordance with fair and transparent rules based on “the Purchasing Transaction Guidelines.” With the aim of carrying out fair transaction, these guidelines defined the basic items regarding the purchasing transaction of products and services that all the employees must comply with. Fuji Xerox's employees comply with related laws and regulations, in particular the Subcontract Law, and aim to establish sound relationships with procurement partners in accordance with the company's Employee Code of Conduct. In addition to the “Purchasing Transaction Guidelines” and the “Employee Code of Conduct,” Fuji Xerox also issued the “Indirect Purchasing Transaction Guidelines” in 1997 to define the rules of indirect materials purchasing.

System to Ensure Fair Procurement

An “All-FX Compliance Help Line” has been established for the early detection and resolution of problems relating to compliance in the workplace and in operations. This help line is open to anyone engaged in the operations of Fuji Xerox and its affiliated companies. This system is intended to ensure that violations of laws and code of conduct are avoided during purchasing.

Future Direction

Amid the growing interest in business ethics in procurement and the mounting social concern for the environment and human rights, Fuji Xerox has been revising its “Purchasing Transaction Guidelines” by incorporating the perspectives of the environment, human rights and procurement ethics, which had not been previously included. We are also working toward expanding the scope of application of the “Purchasing Transaction Guidelines” to include not only manufacturing supplies but also logistics and indirect materials. Fuji Xerox hopes to complete this revision process as well as notify its business partners of the contents and establish a related website during FY 2009.
