Melting Adhesion & Cooling before Stripping Technology

With the rapid proliferation of digital cameras and camera-equipped cellular phones, needs for easily printing out digital images (photos) stored in equipment or memory have increased.
Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. has worked toward technology for printing out digital images (photos) of high quality close to that developed from silver halide photographs by using electrophotography, what is called the print technology of copying machines.

Photo quality requires an enhanced glossy, smooth print surface.
As shown in Fig. 1, toner fused on paper is rough in the conventional xerography technology (electrophotography). However, using special media (photo paper) and technology for belt fusing/melting adhesion and cooling before stripping (MACS technology) has achieved a high-glossy, high-smooth print surface.

Technology for belt fusing/melting adhesion and cooling before stripping copies the belt surface gloss by flattening the melting toner against the high glossy belt and cooling/hardening the toner before stripping photo paper from the belt. This realizes a glossy photograph-like feeling and smooth print surface by embedding the toner in the image receiving layer of the special media (photo paper).

This technology, as is applied to multi-use copy machines installed at convenience stores, provides high-quality prints close to those developed from silver halide photographs, by combining "FUJIFILM XEROGRAPHIC PHOTOPAPER" which has high durability to color deterioration with pigmented toner superior in resistance to fading.
