The Smallest Particle Size Full Color Toner

Abstract

There have been the important demands for the full color printers that are the high image quality, the ecology and the print cost. One of the ways to contribute toward the above demands is the smaller particle design in toner size. But if we applied the smaller toner design to high quality without improvement of it's performance, we would have the troubles to handle it in the machine and to make it in manufacture plant. We tried and developed the next toner design to solve the above problems.

  1. To clarify the contributions of the toner particle size, coarse size distribution and fine size distribution toward the image quality, the developability and productivity. And these toner parameters were optimized.
  2. Toner design to minimize amount of consumer toner on the paper with keeping image information amount and improving image quality.
  3. To improve toner pulverizing ability and manufacturing equipments.
  4. To improve the color gamut in blue area, fade, charging properties and ecology performance.

We not only could develop the smallest particle size full color toner for high image quality print, but also high-level balanced developer in performance, cost and ecology. Especially toner consumer amount on one paper print could be reduced 30-weight percent from previous Acolor toner. This developer was applied in FX new machine DC1250 series and Color Docutech 60. This paper reports on item 1 and 2 technologies in detail.
