Accredited for CO2 Emission Reductions by Downsizing its Body and for Reducing Paper Waste with Digital Printing
December 8, 2014
TOKYO, December 8, 2014 — Versant™ 2100 Press, the color on-demand publishing system developed by Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd., has received the" Minister's Prize, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry" of the Eco-Products category at the 11th Eco-Products Awards, organized by the Eco-Products Awards Steering Committee. This award is the top honor of the Eco-Products category, and this is the second time for Fuji Xerox to win this prize since 2007, when the Company's five models of multifunction devices targeting the office market were awarded.
Versant™ 2100 Press is a production printer announced in May 2014 targeting the entry production color market. The product received recognition for reducing its body size and weight compared to the Company's existing product Note1 through development activities such as newly developing the compact belt roll fuser while achieving print productivity of 100 pages-per-minute. By converting the reduction in product weight to the reduction of CO2 emissions Note2, the outcome is equivalent to reducing 3,738kg-CO2 emissions per unit.
In addition, the Committee recognized Fuji Xerox's longtime environmental initiative, the Integrated Recycling System. The Committee also acclaimed Versant™ 2100 Press for being able to print the required number of prints at the required timing, thereby reducing unnecessary prints to be held in stock as well as the amount of papers to be disposed.
"With the newly developed small-sized belt roll fuser, this digital printer realizes high productivity, compact size, low cost, and lightweight all in one while maintaining nearly-equivalent features compared to its existing product," said one of the reviewers from the Review Committee. "Fuji Xerox employs the unique integrated Recycling System to thoroughly promote reuse/recycle, and its on-demand printers can meet various needs of individual users to print small lots. The Versant™ 2100 Press can print the required number of prints in high speed, thereby saving the unnecessary prints produced as compared to when small lot jobs are sent to offset printing. This product is a remarkable eco-product, accelerating digitization in the printing market in Japan and in the fast-growing Asia-Pacific markets, to meet the increasing needs for high-mix low-volume printing."
The award-winning product will be on display at Eco-Products 2014 in Tokyo, one of Japan's largest environmental exhibitions, held at Tokyo Big Sight from December 11 to 13, 2014. The award ceremony is to be held at the exhibition as well.
