Our Policy on Environmental Education
Raising the environmental awareness of each individual is critical for the achievement of a sustainable society. Fuji Xerox has deployed a series of educational programs to develop employees with a high level of environmental awareness and furthermore, to support the development of a society where citizens willingly engage in activities to protect the environment.
Initiatives for Environmental Education
Fuji Xerox uses both e-learning and in-class programs as a means to enlighten its employees on basic environmental issues and practices for reducing environmental impact. We are bolstering our programs, in an attempt to ensure that all employees receive adequate opportunities for basic environmental education. Our programs include: a basic program targeted at all employees (a program covering social trends regarding the environment, environmental laws, our environmental management policy and environmental initiatives); an environmental course provided as part of the new employee training program; and specialized environmental programs. We believe that the most effective way to encourage people to perceive environmental issues as a matter of their own responsibility and to proactively engage in environmental actions is to provide them with opportunities to actually take part in and to experience activities for environmental conservation. Based on this belief, Fuji Xerox is focusing on offering a range of fieldwork programs. Specifically, we support projects such as Certification Workshops for Nature Guides (co-sponsored with the Nature Conservation Society of Japan), and various initiatives to provide environmental education for children, including the Kids' ISO Program.
In fiscal 2013, preparations were made to replace the basic environmental education, which was being offered individually by each company, with a common web-based educational program for Fuji Xerox and its domestic and overseas affiliates. We are moving forward in fiscal 2014 to implement this program in each company. In fiscal 2012, the ICE Challenge program was implemented by members of the Fujifilm Group in which employees strive to cut electricity use at their homes, and a total of 9,640 employees took part in this program. (Applied to domestic, consolidated companies)
We will continue to implement community-based activities and promote the participation of even more employees, thereby working to enhance the employees' awareness toward our environment.
